A static mixer is a precisely designed device for continuous mixing of liquids and gases. They consist of arranged mixing elements installed directly in a pipeline or flanged pipe. They function without moving parts and are used to achieve specific dispersion and mixing in a continuous process. They are capable of mixing materials of the same or different viscosity and volume flow rate. The key parameters for mixer design are the flow rates of the components to be mixed, the viscosities of the components and the surface tension. Mixers can be designed to mix liquid-liquid, liquid-gas, as well as two gas mixtures.
In a static mixer based on the laminar principle, the flow is repeatedly divided into sub-streams which are reunited. The correct pitch creates a balanced flow from the outside to the inside and vice versa. The mixed medium is thus mixed in a large number of thin layers.
In a static mixer based on the principle of turbulent mixing, the mixing effect is achieved primarily by internal rotation.
With our experience and technical expertise in mixing technology, we carefully consider parameters and assumptions before developing a static mixer to suit your application. As a result, we deliver high-efficiency mixers that interface with the 100% process using energy-efficient, sustainable and maintenance-free technology. In addition to designing new mixers, we are also able to supply individual mixing elements as spare parts for already installed mixers such as SMV or SMX.
